The urban built environment is a cacophony of forms, materials, and relationships. Elements are tied to some specific logic and history, but they are often experienced by the urban dweller as fragments, detached from function and history. With this courtyard installation, we sought to produce an environment where a visitor would encounter a diversity of objects that have a neutral relationship to function.
The courtyard installation was part of Jonald Dudd's 2018 Design Week exhibition. It was located in the backyard of a vacant 99 cent store on Grand Street in Brooklyn.
