Wayward Objects

This collection of 17 colorful and irregularly shaped foam chairs builds on an exploration into the high back chair typology as an object that can define spaces within a larger environment, as well as an object that often defies ergonomics in favor of a formal expression. The outdoor site of Socrates Sculpture Park provides an opportunity to use a waterproofing silicon material that can be colored with pigments. It also provides the opportunity to interact with the unpredictability of wind on the site. The chairs have squiggle-shaped appendages that will wiggle and sway in the wind, flop over, or rest on the ground.
